2026 Science Extension Showcase Event Partner EOI - 2026

⁠⁠⁠The Science Extension course (showcase and awards) is a unique Year 12 subject designed for students who have a strong interest in science and want to go beyond the traditional curriculum.

Project goals

Event partners will get the chance to see investigations spanning biomedical science and nanotechnology, environmental science (microplastics, PFAS, coral reefs, soil health), space and astrobiology, cybersecurity and data science, human physiology and psychology (sleep, stress, cognition, sports performance), materials and engineering (biodegradable plastics, prosthetics, pykrete), agriculture and food science, public health, and First Nations knowledge in STEM, reflecting the breadth and depth of student inquiry.

Scope

Value-in-kind Sponsors The department is seeking event partners to support the Science Extension Showcase financially or with in-kind contributions:

Ways to sponsor

• Prizes and scholarships: Bookshop and general gift vouchers, Officeworks/tech vouchers, ed-tech licenses.
• Pathways and experiences: Paid internships, research lab shadowing, site visits, mentoring, ‘lunch with a scientist/engineer’, guest speakers.
• Value-in-kind: Printing of posters/bags, merchandise, resources, venue support, catering.
• Equity and access: Travel bursaries for regional students and families.
• Future-focused extras: Cloud/data credits, software tool access, micro-credential vouchers, career-readiness workshops.
