⁠⁠⁠Cairns Regional Council (Council) is seeking the services of a suitably qualified and experienced consultant to undertake a comprehensive detailed Condition Assessment and Renewal Readiness Assessment of the SH7 Vacuum Sewage Pump Station (VSPS).

The SH7 VSPS services Smithfield catchment and forms a critical component of Councils vacuum sewer network. The facility comprises a vacuum pressure vessel, three vacuum pumps, two sewage transfer pumps, generator, main switchboard, odour control system, and associated mechanical, electrical, automation and networking infrastructure. The station operates under sustained negative pressure conditions and transfers sewage via rising main to the downstream Marlin Coast wastewater treatment facility.

Given the age of the asset and emerging operational concerns, Council requires a structured and risk-based assessment to confirm the current condition of the station, verify structural compliance of the vacuum vessel, evaluate mechanical and electrical reliability, and inform staged renewal planning. This consultancy will provide Council with a defensible technical basis for operational risk management and future capital investment decisions.
