Tender Description
Local governments hold building and plumbing certification documentation that contains information relevant to dwelling completions. However, this data is incomplete, varies across jurisdictions, and is not required to be shared with the Queensland Government, resulting in it currently remaining siloed at the local level.
This project will investigate the feasibility of accessing residential building certification documentation and/or plumbing compliance documentation.
Queensland is facing a significant housing supply shortfall, with the government committing to deliver 1 million homes by 2044, including 53,500 new social homes. Accurate and timely dwelling completions data is essential for monitoring progress and informing policy responses to address housing shortfalls. Currently, the department relies on data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), which is limited and lacks the granularity and timeliness required for monitoring.
