Tender Description

The NSW Government has committed $540 million to build a new Integrated Mental Health Complex (IMHC) in the Westmead Health Precinct. These works are being delivered by Health Infrastructure, in collaboration with Western Sydney Local Health District.

Richard Crookes Constructions have been selected as the contractor to deliver the Main Works of the project through to completion in 2027. The project will kick off on site from approximately March 2025.

The new IMHC at Westmead will deliver new therapeutic environments that support safe, dignified, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care.

The new facilities have been designed with consumers and staff to promote recovery and reduce stress for everyone who stays, visits or works there. The IMHC will be located close to Westmead Hospital K block, and will include connections to the main entry, adult emergency and the psychiatric emergency care centre.

The IMHC will include a mental health intensive care and high dependency unit, a mental health care assessment area, sub and non-acute mental health beds, multidisciplinary ambulatory and outpatient services and acute mental health beds for youth, adolescents, adults, older persons and people living with eating disorders.

As part of the project, existing mental health inpatient and outpatient services at Cumberland Hospital West Campus will be relocated to the new Integrated Mental Health Complex. Existing mental health services currently at Cumberland Hospital will continue to provide care to consumers, and support staff, carers and visitors until the new building opens.

The project can be split into the following three phases and key activities:

Phase 1: Site Establishment, commencing early 2025 (indicative)

-Installation of 2m high solid fencing around the entire project boundary

-Set up of site office and worker facilities

-Childcare car park construction

-Removal of vegetation and topsoil

-Service relocation & upgrades

Phase 2: Structural Work, commencing mid 2025 (indicative)

-Installation of link bridge connection to existing CASB building over Redbank Road

-Erection of two tower cranes

-Concrete pours

-Scaffolding installation

Phase 3: Fit out Works, commencing late 2025 (indicative)

-Fit out of internal fixtures & fittings

-Services reticulation

-External facade works

-Landscaping
