Tender Description

The Destiny Wind Project is a proposed floating offshore wind farm off the Hunter coast that will generate and deliver renewable electricity through its offshore wind generation facility and electrical transmission system. The Project is expected to operate for a minimum of 30 years, with the possibility of extending its service life up to 40 years, delivering clean and reliable energy to millions of NSW homes and businesses.


The Project is being progressed by an Australian-based team with investment from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, a world leader in offshore wind development.

Destiny Wind is committed to involving local businesses, First Nations and communities throughout the Project's development, construction and operation, ensuring that economic benefits are shared across the region. Destiny Wind will prioritise engaging local suppliers and contractors, building their capacity and capability, and fostering strategic partnerships and collaborations to drive the growth and development of the local supply chain.

Destiny Wind acknowledges that its Project is being developed on the lands and waters of the Awabakal and Worimi People and would like to acknowledge and pay respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

Project timeframes

It typically takes around 6-10 years to develop an offshore wind project. The Project is in the feasibility and development phase. If the Project is feasible and the necessary approvals are granted, construction could begin around the end of the decade. The Project's lifespan is anticipated to be around 30 years.

Potential opportunities

Offshore wind farms are a proven driver for jobs and contract opportunities and Destiny Wind presents a unique opportunity to grow the next generation capability for the NSW renewable sector.

Main contracts are expected to include:

- Development services,

- Offshore wind turbine generators,

- Offshore wind floating foundations,

- High voltage submarine and terrestrial cable,

- Offshore substations,

- Onshore transmission and substations,

- Vessels,

- Port and facilities,

- Transportation, installation / construction, commissioning of the above,

- Operations and maintenance requirements.

These contracts will create significant downstream opportunities through the successful contractors. Local companies with relevant skills and capabilities in the broader supply chain are encouraged to register their interest.
