Overview
Byron Shire Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from car share providers interested in making vehicles available for very short-term rental within the Byron Shire.
About
Council has supported a car share service since 2019, providing 12 designated parking spaces in Byron Bay and two in Mullumbimby for cars able to be booked at short notice, mirroring similar services available in cities.
Purpose
The Byron Bay Town Centre Masterplan supports an approach that prioritises people over cars, and a car sharing service available to locals and visitors is seen as a way of providing alternative transport and travel options.
