Overview
The Small Business Development Corporation (WA) is seeking to engage a provider to deliver a Financial and Business Resilience Advisory Service for primary producers and small and medium businesses affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle (STC Narelle) in the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions.
About
STC Narelle affected the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions in March 2026, causing widespread damage and disruption across several local government areas. Primary producers and small and medium businesses were significantly impacted, with flow-on effects for long-term local economic activity. Although Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements have been activated, the scale and ongoing nature of the impacts exceed the assistance currently available to these groups.
In response to the scale and ongoing nature of the impacts of STC Narelle, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services has sought and been granted approval to expand the Government's response through the SBDC by providing targeted financial and business advisory support to affected primary producers and small and medium businesses (the Target Groups).
Purpose
The services are intended to help participants address immediate financial and business impacts from STC Narelle, while also strengthening their capability, preparedness and long-term resilience for future natural disasters.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Provision of targeted financial and business advisory support to affected primary producers and small and medium businesses (the Target Groups) in the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions
- Assistance to Target Groups in addressing immediate financial and business impacts arising from STC Narelle
- Support to strengthen the capability, preparedness and long-term resilience of Target Groups for future natural disasters
