Christmas Market Partner

⁠⁠⁠Overview

The City of Fremantle is seeking an experienced market operator to deliver a Christmas Market as part of A Very Freo Christmas 2026.

The market will take place at Esplanade Reserve from 18 to 20 December 2026, alongside the City's Christmas Carols, Outdoor Christmas Movie Nights and Norfolk Pine lighting installation. The market will be a key feature of Fremantle's festive season program and is expected to attract residents and visitors to the city during the busy Christmas period.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Delivery of a Christmas Market at Esplanade Reserve featuring a minimum of 20 stallholders
• Curation of stallholders offering artisan products, local makers, handmade goods, sustainable products, unique gifts, food and beverage offerings, and family-friendly experiences
• Design and delivery of a market that reflects Fremantle's unique character and contributes to an engaging visitor experience

Christmas theming, children's activities, entertainment and other festive activations will be viewed favourably but are not mandatory.

The successful operator will benefit from:

• A prime location within Esplanade Reserve
• Inclusion in the broader A Very Freo Christmas marketing campaign
• Promotion through This is Fremantle channels
• Waived City venue hires and event fees
• Access to power
• City-provided waste management and security services
• The ability to retain revenue generated through stallholder fees and approved commercial activities

Contractor Requirements

Expressions of Interest will be assessed on:

• Experience delivering markets and events
• Ability to attract quality stallholders
• Operational capability
• Alignment with the A Very Freo Christmas vision
• Contribution to Fremantle's visitor experience

Key dates for this Expression of Interest process are as follows:

• EOI Opens: Wednesday, 13 August 2026
• EOI Closes: 5:00 PM, Monday, 14 September 2026
• Successful Applicant Notified: By Monday, 05 October 2026
• Market Dates: 18 to 20 December 2026
