Preferred supplier arrangement for the provision of weed spraying services

Toowoomba Regional Council is establishing a preferred supplier arrangement for the provision of contract weed spraying services, to support its declared plant management program across council owned land and enforcement activity on private property.

About

Council conducts an extensive management program for declared plants across council owned land and enforcement activity on private property. As part of these programs, council requires a number of suitably qualified persons to provide a range of services to ensure the effective management of weeds in a variety of circumstances.

Under the Queensland Biosecurity Act 2014, council, as a landowner, is required to take reasonable steps to keep land free of restricted and prohibited invasive matter (declared plants). Council is also charged with ensuring compliance with the Act by other landholders within the council area.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Boom spray treatment of declared plants
• Quick spray treatment of declared plants
• Manual removal of declared plants
• Roadside spraying
• Treatment of weeds in natural areas
• Enter and clear operations on private land

The amount, area and targeted weed species to be treated as part of this program will vary between treatments and between seasons due to environmental conditions. Council is unable to provide specifics on the amount of work that will be required from contractors on the preferred supplier arrangement.
