EOI – Lead Architect - University of Sydney Student Accommodation 2031

⁠⁠⁠Overview

The University of Sydney is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced architectural practices for the role of Discipline Lead – Architect on the University of Sydney Student Accommodation 2031 (SA31) program. Participation in this EOI is also subject to the separate SA31 EOI Terms of Participation, and respondents must read and comply with both the SA31 USYD EOI document and the Terms of Participation, together with all addenda.

The University is planning to deliver up to 2,000 student accommodation beds on the Camperdown/Darlington Campus within the next 5 years, across two sites: Site 1 (with the potential to deliver up to approximately 1,500 beds in two stages) and Site 2 (approximately 850 beds). The University intends to pursue planning approval via the Housing Delivery Authority / State Significant Development Application (SSDA) pathway, with preparation of SSDA documentation commencing early 2027 and lodgment targeted for late 2027. Progression of each site beyond preparation of SSDA documentation is subject to internal University approvals.

Purpose

This EOI is the first stage of a two-stage procurement process. Its purpose is to identify and shortlist suitably qualified and experienced architectural practices for participation in a subsequent Request for Tender (RFT) process for the provision of Architect (Design Lead) services in connection with the SA31 program. Following completion of the RFT process, the University intends to appoint an Architect (Design Lead) to provide the required services for the SA31 program.

The procurement approach for the Town Planning and Engineering disciplines is currently under review, and the University's Town Planning and Engineering Panels are not being refreshed as part of this EOI.

The University may also use the outcomes of this EOI to identify suitably qualified and experienced architectural practices for recommendation to the University's Architecture Panel (Panel Review). Any panel appointment will be subject to the University's further requirements, including acceptance of the applicable panel terms and conditions, and the University reserves the right to determine the final composition of the panel.

Respondents are requested to:

• Submit a completed EOI Response Form, using the supplied link for the Architect discipline (Expression of Interest - Lead Architect and Design Lead - Student Accommodation 2031) or by copying the link from the relevant table into their browser. A copy of the EOI Response Form is included at Attachment B.
• Submit responses to all EOI questions that require a written response in the Response Form as an attachment via the TenderBox attachment function, with responses to all applicable questions consolidated into one document.

All formal EOI communications, including Requests for Information (RFIs), must be submitted in writing through the online forum.
