Tender Description

Overview

Power and Water Corporation (NT) is seeking a contractor to equip a new water source and construct a rising main and power line for the community of Alpurrurulam.

About

The community of Alpurrurulam has faced ongoing water capacity and quality challenges for several years. Historical water demand patterns indicate that the community's water usage has frequently exceeded the current Borefield's production capacity, even with all four existing bores operating concurrently.

There are also concerns about water quality, primarily attributed to excessive levels of fluoride, hardness, and iron, resulting in water that does not consistently meet the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) standards.

Stage 1 (Completed in 2014)

This stage involved drilling of three new production bores and four monitoring bores. The new Borefield is located approximately 6 km east of the existing water storage tank compound. The water quality from these bores is generally compliant with ADWG standards.

Stage 3 (Future Stage)

The final stage will involve the construction of a Borefield water supply storage facility with a transfer pumping capacity of 20 L/s and equipping the third production bore. This will ensure the community's water demands are met into the future as population and usage grow.

Scope

This is Stage 2 of the project, involving equipping two of the newly drilled production bores, constructing the associated rising main, and installing a power line to connect to the existing water and electrical supply infrastructure. This scope of work is expected to address current water capacity shortfalls and rectify ongoing water quality concerns.

The scope of the current project (Stage 2) includes:

  • Equipping two new production bores (already drilled) with appropriate pumping infrastructure
  • Installation of a rising main to connect the new Borefield to the existing water tank facility, including all civil works in accordance with the design drawings
  • Installation of a HV power supply line to service the new Borefield infrastructure
  • Integration of the new Borefield into the existing water, electrical, and communication systems, ensuring operational continuity and reliability
