Building Demolition - 13 Blake Street

⁠⁠⁠This tender is for the demolition of the single story building at 13 Blake Street and preparation of the site ready for the adjacent public carpark to be extended.

The building at 13 Blake Street is a council owned building, approximately 300m2 in floor area and consists of an original cement block building with timber truss roof, and an extension that was added later using concrete precast panels, internal steel columns, and steel purlin roofing.

An asbestos survey of the building was undertaken in 2019 which identified asbestos materials only in and around the building switchboard.

The adjacent Blake Street public carpark is planned for redevelopment with construction commencement planned for September 2026, so timing of this demolition work is set to prepare the site ready for carpark construction (asphalt surfacing).

All property services connected to the building will be required to be safely decommissioned as part of the demolition works. The client (Waimakariri District Council) will administrate the disconnection of water and power services, and so the demolition contractor shall be responsible for all others.
