Are you looking for a space to do your creative work? Apply to be one of the artist residents in our Creative Residency Studio!
Located in Burwood Library and Community Hub, the Creative Residency Studio has been developed by Council to provide artists a space to create, to experiment, and to hone their craft.
Express your interest in being a resident artist below. The Creative Residency is only open to artists 18 years of age and over.
Third round of applications will open on 25 May 2026 and close on 28 June 2026. Successful residents have access to the Creative Residency Studio from late-July 2026 to December 2026.
About the Studio
Successful applicants will have rostered access to a studio space to work on their chosen art form. The space is suitable for art forms such as music, digital artist, photography, film, textile artist, writing, etc. Please note that this space is not suitable for painting or pottery based art forms. Special access to the space will be provided to residents outside of library opening hours. This is an unpaid five-month residency; however, use of the space will be free for the successful applicants. Additionally, as part of the residency you will collaborate with the Library to deliver a free public workshop or exhibition.
Selection Process
Residency applications will close on 27 June 2026. Application will reviewed by a panel of Burwood Council's Community Life staff. Candidates shortlisted by this panel will be invited for one-on-one interviews to understand their specific needs in late September. Successful applicants will be announced in October and the residencies commence thereafter.
Selection considerations:
- Impact of the residency on the development of the artists' creative practice
- Suitability of the studio for the artists' creative practice
- Intended outcome of the artists' use of the studio
