WCC Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2027-2030

⁠⁠⁠Warrnambool City Council (Council) is seeking quotations for a suitably qualified consultant to develop a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP). The Australian Human Rights Commission states that the purpose of a Disability Action Plan is to encourage, recognise and promote an active commitment to eliminating disability discrimination and to promote the recognition of the rights of people with disability. The development of Council’s DAIP shall be undertaken through community consultation and will incorporate Council’s obligations under State and Federal legislation and Council’s plans and policies.

The project will deliver a strategic plan outlining key action over four years which improve the liveability of people with disability.

The plan will:

• Describe the level, type and impact of disability in the Warrnambool community.
• Outline the legislative, regulatory and policy framework impacting the development of the plan.
• Identify and evaluate the areas of Council which directly impact the lives of people with disability.
• Undertake internal (Council) and community consultation to understand the needs of Warrnambool’s community as it relates to the removal of systemic inequity and opportunity for people with disability.
• Identify key thematic outcomes as a result of the community consultation.
• Identify priority action areas.
• Identify actions aligned to the priority areas to be undertaken over the life of the plan.

The successful tendered will provide a framework and timeline for the development of the plan.
