Mowing of City Verges (Area 2)

⁠⁠⁠The City of Canning invites submissions from suitably qualified and experienced Contractors for the provision of verge mowing services relating to unkempt verges and fire hazard reduction throughout the municipality.

The scope of works includes mowing unkempt verges to control grass and weed growth, maintain safe sightlines, and reduce fuel loads. These works are generally undertaken up to three (3) times per annum. The City currently outsources approximately 1,200 verge locations, equating to an estimated 250,000m2. In addition, Contractors will be required to undertake hazard reduction mowing of approximately 120,000m2 per annum on City-owned or managed land.

As part of this procurement process, the works have been divided into two separate tenders: Unkempt Mowing Area 1 and Unkempt Mowing Area 2. Contracts will be awarded to two separate Contractors to support effective service delivery and operational coverage. This Request specifically relates to Unkempt Mowing Area 1.

The City reserves the right to award to either a sole Contractor or multiple Contractors to ensure best value for money. Each separable portion will form an individual Contract.

The proposed Contract will be for an initial term of three (3) years from the date of award, with two (2) Principal-instigated options to extend for periods of one (1) year each, to a maximum total term of five (5) years.

The Contract is anticipated to commence in July 2026.
