South West Design Review Panel - Expressions of Interest

⁠⁠⁠The Cities of Bunbury and Busselton and the Shires of Augusta Margaret River and Capel are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for membership of the South West Joint Design Review Panel (SWDRP). Following the conclusion of the current term, panel membership is now open for appointments for a new two-year tenure (2026–2028).

What is the SWDRP?

The SWDRP is a collaborative initiative between the participating Local Governments to provide independent, expert design advice on development proposals across the South West. The Panel reviews a range of development applications and projects, with each local government determining which proposals require design review input.

Who should apply?

Applications are sought from experienced professionals in the following fields:

• Architecture
• Urban design
• Landscape architecture
• Heritage
• Sustainability and environmental design
• Town planning
• Arts and culture

Applicants may also nominate for the role of Panel Chair, which includes additional responsibilities in facilitating panel meetings and guiding discussions.

How does the Panel operate?

• The Panel meets monthly to review projects across the South West, however additional meetings may be required depending on the number of applications.
• Meetings are conducted via teleconference, enabling flexible participation.
• The Panel operates in accordance with an agreed Terms of Reference between the participating Local Governments.
• Advice is provided against the ten design principles outlined in State Planning Policy 7.0 – Design of the Built Environment.
