Hungerford Caretaker

⁠⁠⁠Bulloo Shire Council is seeking the services of a suitably qualified contractor to fulfil the role of Hungerford Caretaker within Hungerford Town.

Required Training and Licence

a) The Contractor shall ensure that they, and all staff employed hold relevant tickets and licences to operate plant and equipment required to undertake the Hungerford Town Maintenance activities 

Hungerford Town Maintenance Duties

a) Maintain town water system – collect water readings, perform a manual backwash, check on Altron levels.

b) Provide a garbage collection for the town of Hungerford and maintain the refuse site once a week.

c) Maintenance and upkeep of the town’s parks and public facilities including mowing, whipper snippering, watering and general maintenance when needed.

d) Maintain Hungerford Medical Centre including mowing, whipper snippering, watering and general maintenance when needed.

e) Maintain and clean all public amenities weekly or as required.

f) Check, clean and maintain Caravan Park weekly or as required.

g) Service council plant & complete necessary Council documentation i.e. plant defect forms & utilisation.

h) Clean SES shed.

i) Carry out Aerodrome Reporting Officers (ARO) functions for the Hungerford Aerodrome in accordance with CASA’s MOS 139 and CAAP 92-1(1): -

• Carry out serviceability inspections

• Maintain logbook recording inspections

• Check Lights

• All maintenance works that are required are to be reported via email to the Manager of Infrastructure.

• Liaise with Manager of Infrastructure to ensure that all non-compliance issues from the Aerodrome Safety Inspections are completed within the required timeframes.

• Carry out inspections on Aerodrome Fencing

j) Report to Council on Road Conditions and assist with road closures as required.  Inspecting roads, erecting road closure signs and removing signs are part of additional hours to be approved by Councils Road Manager or CEO

k) Provide a written Monthly Report to Rural & Town Services Manager and CEO within the first week of each month that:

• Outlines works carried out during the month

• Lists any additional works required for the next month

• Provides an update on any other matters of interest in relation to the Town of Hungerford

l) Electrical and Maintenance Repairs

The Contractor will be required to notify the Council in writing of all electrical defects in order for Council to arrange an approved contractor to carry out all necessary work and repairs.

Council is to provide:

a) Supply other plant, equipment, fuel and/or oil that may be necessary to maintain and improve Hungerford township: i.e. Tractor, Front-End Loader, Grader, River Pump, Water pumps, Generator

b) Rural & Town Services Manager will inspect three (3) monthly.

The Caretaker is to provide the following: -

a) Supply own vehicle & be responsible for the running cost of such vehicle

b) Provide own living arrangements

c) Supply any other plant, equipment, (other than that listed under what Council is to supply) fuel and/or oils required to fulfil caretaker duties

d) Herbicides

e) Toilet paper and accessories
