Tender Description

Mount Barker District Council (the Council) invites Tenders from Tenderers for the turf maintenance at the Mount Barker Summit Sport and Recreation Park (SSRP)

The Council will enter into a Contract for the Purchase of Services with the successful Tenderer to commence on 1 July 2026 for a term of 3 years plus the option to extend for one further term of 12 months.

Scope:

The Mount Barker Summit Sport and Recreation Park (SSRP) has been developed by the Mount Barker District Council to cater for the growing demand for sporting facilities in the region. The Oval is approx. 2ha in size, constructed on a loamy sand profile with subsurface drainage and automatic irrigation.

The outfield is surrounded by a picket fence, with a grandstand on the western side.

The following outlines the maintenance requirements for the Oval at the SSRP. The Mount Barker District Council (MBDC) is expecting the oval to be maintained to a standard equivalent to a regional standard sports field (as prescribed in Attachment B), with the ability to increase services to host SANFL or AFL football should the opportunity arise.

A cricket square is to be prepared and maintained during the spring and summer season and be prepared and maintained to a standard for regional cricket that can be prepared for a district and state game standard if required. Some ad hoc weekly cricket games also need to be accommodated for during the season, this will be reflected in the cricket program once released.

There are four (4) pitches available on this playing field. For tendering purposes, tenderers should base pricing for maintenance on one (1) pitch per week during the cricket season.

A specification of services required is detailed below and a proposed Turf Management Plan is provided as Attachment A. The Turf Management Plan is a list of seasonal requirements to be undertaken and tenderers should review this plan and include all items in their submission methodology and pricing.

There will also be non-sporting events that will be held during the year on the playing field and remediation of the playing field may be required.

Tenderers should submit a schedule of rates for extra work that may be required after events, extra games or vandalism that may occur.
