Tender Description
Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting local artists and arts organisations to submit expressions of interest for the 2026-2027 Phee Broadway Theatre Foyer Exhibition Program.
Located on Mechanics Lane in Castlemaine, the Phee Broadway Theatre is a key cultural venue and community hub.
Its foyer - shared with the Castlemaine Library - offers a highly visible exhibition space with strong audience flow and opportunities to engage diverse community members beyond traditional gallery settings.
Mayor Toby Heydon said the program provides local artists with a professional platform to present their work in a prominent public setting.
“This program recognises the strength and diversity of creative practice across the shire,” Cr Heydon said.
“The theatre foyer offers artists the chance to exhibit in a dynamic, public environment and connect with audiences who may not actively seek out gallery spaces.”
Over the past year, the program featured seven artists working across a range of mediums, including painting, mosaics, wire sculpture and illustration. Council is now seeking proposals from artists and collectives across all disciplines for the next 12‑month exhibition cycle.
Expressions of interest open Monday 4 May and close Monday 26 May at 5.00pm, with the first exhibition scheduled to open in July 2026.
