Tender Description
This specification describes the coastal protection works required to an approximately 70m long section of Moore Park Beach (-24.714485, 152.277955), that is experiencing severe coastal erosion. Protection works are in the form of detach breakwater structure, consisting of 267 x 4T rock bags.
| Term | Description |
| Detached Breakwater | A coastal structure built parallel to the shore (offshore) to reduce wave energy and protect the coastline from erosion. |
| Lifting Ring | Steel lifting point attached to each rock bag, for the purpose of lifting and moving filled rock bags with machinery. |
| Rock Bag | Net-type bag, designed to contain rock fill, used for coastal structures. |
| Rock Bag Fill | Quarry rock to be utilised as fill material in rock bags (for detached breakwater). |
| Staging Area | Area designated onsite / near the site of detach breakwater structure, for filling of rock bags, in preparation for placement on the beach. |
| Stretcher Bond Layout | Staggered, interlocking pattern, where rock bags are placed to ensure minimal space between bags placed on each layer. This placement ensures best possible structural integrity under wave loading. |
| Test Panel | Rock bag installation trial run, to be constructed off-beach, as per requirement outlined in Section 4.2.1. |
