Tender Description
The Northern Territory Government in partnership with the Northern Territory Primary Health Network, are releasing grants to support community and non-government organisation projects, activities or events that raise awareness and help keep people safe.
Projects, activities or events must align with at least one of the key action areas in the Northern Territory (NT) Suicide Prevention Implementation Plan - Keeping Everyone Safe 2023-2028:
- Support individuals, families and communities to increase wellbeing and build strength.
- Invest all NT workforces.
- Build stronger evidence base.
- Educate, train and support communities to lead local responses.
- Collaborate and ensure everyone is working together.
- Support priority groups.
Who can apply
Funding is available to individuals and organisations.
To be eligible for funding an individual must
- have met acquittal requirements for all previous Northern Territory Government grants and complied with all other accountability requirements
- have completed all required information in the application form and submitted required documentation in support of your application
- be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident
- reside in the NT for the duration of funded activity
Types of individiuals that are eligible to apply for funding include
- Submit using an Administering Body.
To be eligible for funding an organisation must
- be operating as a not for profit organisation
- be operating as a for profit organisation
- meet one of the following:
- be incorporated under and compliant with the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act (Commonwealth)
- be incorporated under and compliant with one of: the Associations Act (NT), the Corporations Act 2001, the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act (Commonwealth), any other Act of Parliament
- be a local governing body or an incorporated organisation delivering local government or municipal services
- be incorporated under and compliant with the Corporations Act 2001 (Commonwealth)
- be incorporated under and compliant with the Associations Act (NT)
- if your organisation does not have legal standing, you must have an administering body that is incorporated under a relevant Act to take responsibility for administering, reporting and acquitting the grant on behalf of your organisation
- be operating as a sole trader
- be physically located and actively operating in the NT
- have met acquittal requirements for all previous Northern Territory Government grants and complied with all other accountability requirements
- have completed all required information in the application form and submitted required documentation in support of your application
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- have public liability insurance of at least $10 million
Available funding
One-off grants between $500 and $10,000 (GST inclusive) per successful application for the relevant funding period.
What can be funded
Community groups and non-government organisations may apply for grants between $500 and $10,000 to assist in raising awareness about suicide and suicide prevention.
Projects, activities or events must be aligned with at least one of the three identified priority areas to;
- Build inclusive communities and strengthen community resilience
- Increasing capacity to prevent and respond to suicidal behaviours, including reducing stigma
- Enhancing collaboration and awareness of effective suicide prevention practices
Applicants must demonstrate that their proposal is able to meet its identified objectives and outcomes and addresses a need in their community or region. Applicants must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and projects or activities must be specifically for Northern Territorians.
What can't be funded
- Any activity or event that does not occur within the NT.
- International travel.
- Fund-raising activities.
- Recruitment agency fees.
- Projects that have already occurred, or costs that have already been incurred.
- Wages for staff members performing their duties under their normal role
Before you apply
- Plan and give yourself plenty of time to develop your application.
- Read the guidelines, including the general eligibility requirements and grant objectives.
- Provide a coherent activity plan and budget and use the Excel budget template (available from GrantsNT) when preparing your budget.
- Prepare and save your application content offline prior to entering it into GrantsNT to avoid losing your content.
- Be brief and concise, avoid repetition and write in plain English.
- Do not assume the assessors know you, your activity, your audience or your previous work.
- Proofread and consider your application against the objective and outcomes of the grant category.
- If applying through an administering body, plan sufficient time for the administering body to review and endorse your application in GrantsNT. Once the administering body has done so, you then need to submit the application.
