Tathra Wharf Cargo Building Restoration Works

⁠⁠⁠The Tathra Wharf Cargo Building was constructed in 1912 & is an NSW Heritage listed building. Bega Valley Shire Council (BVSC) manages the building on behalf of the Crown; all relevant information & subsequent advice & consent has been provided to BVSC authorising the works as specified in this scope of works. Contractors are to refer to email correspondence between David Buckley, BVSC Tathra Wharf Upgrade Project Manager & Pip Giovanelli, the Heritage & Conservation Consultant engaged by BVSC for the wharf upgrade works & the NSW Government Gazette dated 13 November 2020 including the Schedule of Standard Exemptions to Subsection 57(1) of the Heritage Act 1977 Made Under Subsection 57(2) included as Reference Drawings & Documents, noting the landscape format referred to in the correspondence is in relation to pages 1-9 of the standard exemptions document.

At all times, the Contractor is to respect the significant heritage status of the Cargo Building & wharf generally & maintain appropriate due care & diligence in relation to maintaining the heritage fabric accordingly.

The scope of works is to be read in conjunction with the conditions assessment reports provided.

All new member elements are to be durability class 1 hardwood species or approved equivalent. Relevant submission(s) must be made to the Principal for approval of proposed new member elements prior to procurement/installation.

Submissions are required for approval of all design & construction items prior to procurement for installation.

The Contractor is to be mindful of the operations of the Café, Museum & Wharf & ensure the safety of all patrons & wharf users at all times.
