Soil Remediation Works Canal Road, Ballina

⁠⁠⁠Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced contractor for the remediation of arsenic-contaminated soils at 31 and 33 Canal Road, Ballina including the excavation, classification, transport, and lawful disposal of approximately 933m³ and 35m³ of contaminated soil.

Works also include the importation, placement, and compaction of validated clean fill to achieve required site levels and ensure the site is suitable for its intended use and must be undertaken in accordance with the relevant Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), Dewatering Management Plan, Soil Disposal Permit and Development Consents (DA 2024/22 and DA 2023/534).

No pre-tender or site inspection is being conducted for this project. Prospective tenderers are welcome to visit the site which is publicly accessible.

Council’s Environmental Consultant/Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating and/or undertaking key contamination-related components of the works, including waste classification, cross-border waste transport certificate, validation sampling, and preparation of the validation report. However, this does not extend to all environmental management aspects of the project. The successful contractor will remain responsible for compliance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), including (but not limited to) dust suppression, noise management, dewatering, waste tracking, and stormwater/drainage controls.
