The purpose of this project is to update the Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology (AGPT) Part 4I: Earthworks Materials and to align with current material types, standards and guides.
Scope:
This project will update the Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology Part 4I: Earthworks Materials to reflect relevant information from related reports and research since it was published in 2009. The project will also develop an associated technical basis report.
The updated Guide part will also consider current transport jurisdiction specifications, research and approaches. A literature review and consultation with Austroads member agencies and other stakeholders will also be conducted.
The benefits associated with an updated guide include improved resources for users of the guide. This could result in improved project outcomes leading to capital cost savings, quality improvements and sustainability benefits. Earthwork materials are used in a range of transport assets. Improved quality outcomes will improve asset resilience.
A revised AGPT Part 4I will improve the collective knowledge associated with earthwork materials across all jurisdictions. This should lead to improved earthwork asset outcomes. The guide will require future upkeep as our knowledge of earthwork materials improves over time and the associated cross reference documents are updated.
This project will produce the following final deliverables:
• Technical basis report
• Updated edition of Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology Part 4I: Earthworks Materials (AGPT Part 4I)
• Webinar
• Project data with populated metadata spreadsheet.
