Tender Description

1. Summary

1.1. Delivery of a full replacement onsite wastewater management system at the ANU Kioloa Coastal Campus. The project includes decommissioning four existing worm farm systems, installation of a commercial Aerated Wastewater Treatment System (12,000L/day), installation of a new septic tank and collection well for the southern cabins, and construction of six new pressure dosed soil absorption beds as recommended in the Harris Environmental Consulting Assessment (ref. 7691WW v1.1). This upgrade is required to address failure of the existing wastewater infrastructure and to ensure environmental compliance, long term operational reliability, and continuity of service.

2. The scope of work specific to this RFQ includes the following:

2.1.1. Background and Desired Outcome

The Australian National University (ANU) Kioloa Coastal Campus currently relies on four (4) worm farm wastewater treatment systems and an associated soil absorption bed network installed in 2010. The existing treatment and disposal systems have deteriorated and are showing signs of hydraulic failure and clogging. Attempts to rehabilitate the absorption beds have been unsuccessful and the systems no longer meet operational, environmental, or regulatory requirements.

Based on the findings of Schedule 4: the Harris Environmental Consulting Onsite Wastewater Management Assessment (Ref. 7691WW v1.1), the University requires a comprehensive replacement of the existing wastewater infrastructure.

The desired outcome is the delivery of a compliant, reliable, low maintenance, and environmentally sound onsite wastewater management system that:

It should be noted that a geotechnical report has flagged restrictions relating to depth located around the existing worm farm location. Please refer to Schedule 2: Geotechnical report. 202666: njb

• Meets Shoalhaven City Council Section 68 requirements;

• Complies with AS/NZS 1547:2012 and WaterNSW (2023) Guidelines; and

• Provides sufficient capacity for current operations and future campus occupancy (up to 120 persons).

• Compliant with NSW Local Government Act (Section 68)
