Council is seeking an experienced and suitable Contractor to undertake the road reconstruction and drainage upgrade works along Cuthbert Street, Broadmeadows, between Joffre Street and Beulah Street.
The existing road pavement has reached the end of its service life, with deterioration and ageing infrastructure contributing to ongoing maintenance issues. Additionally, the current drainage system is limited in capacity and performance, resulting in inefficient stormwater management along the corridor.
Council proposes to reconstruct the full-depth pavement, upgrade kerb and channel, and install new underground drainage infrastructure along the north side of Cuthbert Street. These works will improve stormwater collection and conveyance, reduce surface runoff, and enhance the overall functionality and safety of the road network.
The scope of works in this contract includes the following:
- Reconstructing a full-depth pavement, including new kerb and channel.
- Upgrading existing road humps and converting a specific existing road hump into a school pedestrian crossing.
- Providing new underground drainage along the north side of Cuthbert Street.
- Improving existing road drainage assets.
- Increasing intersection kerb return radii where possible to service emergency and waste collection vehicles.
- Maintaining existing parking restrictions and reinstate existing signage.
- Reconstructing damaged or failed footpaths where required, based on site inspection.
- Reinstatement of vehicle crossings.
- Upgrading the lighting.
