Mapuru Airstrip Restoration

⁠⁠⁠Marthakal Homelands and Resource Centre Aboriginal Corporation (Marthakal) have secured a grant through the Federal Department of Industry, Science and Resources to upgrade the Mapuru Airstrip, and are seeking experienced and qualified civil contractors to provide a price to complete the works.

Construction is to be delivered by 20 October 2026.

The Mapuru Airstrip is currently not accessible year-round for larger carriers such as CareFlight, limiting Mapuru's residents' access to necessary healthcare. Marthakal is seeking an experienced civil contractor to upgrade sections of the airstrip heavily impacted by wet-season rain, reinstating it as a year-round airstrip.

This project involves a design finalisation phase and a civil construction phase.
