Tender Description
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to establish a Jewish community focussed legal advice service to support the Royal Commission. The legal advice service will provide legal advice and information to members of the public wishing to engage with the Royal Commission.
The service will run for the duration of the Royal Commission and to be effective, the service must be independent from the Royal Commission, trauma-informed, culturally safe, accessible, and be delivered nationally.
The objectives of the grant are:
- To provide a free legal advice and information service to assist individuals to understand their legal rights and options for engaging with the Royal Commission.
- To provide referrals to counselling and other support services as needed to ensure a holistic, culturally appropriate, and cooperative approach to assisting people to engage with the Royal Commission.
Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive this grant, you must be one of the organisations listed: Jewish Centre for Law and Justice Limited ABN 43 679 820 485.
No further organisations are eligible to receive a grant.
- The above organisation has been selected by the department to be eligible to receive a grant due to an urgent need associated with the provision of services for the Royal Commission.
To be eligible your grant activity must:
- create and operate a trauma-informed, culturally appropriate and accessible free national legal advice service to support individuals to engage the Royal Commission
The service will provide:
- free legal advice, information and referrals for individuals to be provided by phone, online and via face to face in key locations.
The service must consist of:
- appropriately qualified legal and support staff
- trauma informed specialist staff trained and experienced in dealing with cultural sensitivities.
The legal advice service will not require the individual to be a formal witness of the Royal Commission.
The services must develop a close working relationship with key stakeholders and establish referral pathways with:
- the Royal Commission
- relevant support services
- the department
You can only spend the grant on eligible expenditure you have incurred on eligible grant activities.
Total Amount Available (AUD):
$800,000.00
Instructions for Application Submission:
To apply, you must:
- complete the application form provided via GrantConnect (or as advised in your invitation to apply)
- provide all information requested in the application form
- address all eligibility and assessment criteria
- include all required attachments
- provide any additional information the department deems necessary to assess your application (on a case by case basis), and
- submit your application by 5:00pm AEDT on 8 April 2026, in accordance with the submission method advised.
We will not provide application forms or accept applications for this grant opportunity by fax or mail.
