Green Waste Mulching at Transfer Stations - Panel of Suppliers

⁠⁠⁠Yarriambiack Shire Council wish to appoint a panel of suppliers who are appropriately experienced to undertake all aspects of organics Shredding and Screening of green waste and logs on site at Council Transfer Stations.

The Yarriambiack Shire Council receives green organic waste (excluding food waste) in varying stages of processing, from large stumps to raw green waste material and mulch. The material is received from Council operations, residents and businesses. These stockpiles are located at Council’s Transfer Stations in the following towns:

• Warracknabeal
• Hopetoun
• Murtoa
• Minyip
• Rupanyup
• Woomelang
• Beulah

The screening and shredding of green waste will be carried out on an “as required” basis; noting in time, closure plans may be implemented for some of the smaller transfer stations.

The mulched by-product is to be stockpiled at the Transfer Stations; there will be no requirement to cart or dispose of mulched material by Suppliers.

The Warracknabeal Transfer Station receives the majority of green waste deposits, if screening and shredding is required, it will always be required at Warracknabeal with other Transfer Stations to possibly also be completed at the same time, although the amounts to be screened and shredded will be less.

It should be noted, with the mandatory introduction of Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) requiring all Councils to provide a green-lid bin for food and garden waste by 1 July 2027 and the implementation of this system, the impact of the FOGO bin system on Council’s green waste stockpiles is an unknown quantity at this time, however it is anticipated there may be a reduction in the mass of green waste to be sorted and shredded at Council’s Transfer Stations.
