Tender Description

Request For Information for manufacturer insights into the constraints, limitations and previous experience surrounding solar lighting poles

RFI Conditions - This RFI is not a tender process and does not constitute an offer or invitation to treat.

Scope:

Main Roads views this RFI as a valuable opportunity for industry to directly influence the development of Western Australia’s future solar lighting infrastructure. Manufacturers are invited to provide insights such as manufacturing constraints, practical limitations, previous similar experience etc.

The following outlines Main Roads initial expectations for a solar lighting pole. The requirements represent a baseline concept only and will be refined based on the feedback received through this RFI.

Preliminary Pole Requirements:

• Pole to be octagonal in shape

• Pole type to be frangible (direct buried or bolted to footing)

• Luminaire mounting height of approximately 9 metres above ground level

• Up to 3 metre outreach arm

• Modular solar panel mounting system capable of accommodating up to two panels, measuring approximately up to 1000 mm x 1700 mm each

• Pole to incorporate a hinge mechanism located approximately near the midpoint of the structure to support

• Pole to be designed and engineered to withstand the most severe wind regions and soil conditions in Western Australia

Main Roads aims to gain industry feedback and input on the above preliminary requirements that may improve manufacturability and practicality, cost effectiveness etc.

Respondents are encouraged to:

• Identify any concerns or limitations

• Recommend adjustments for improved manufacturability

• Propose alternative configurations and materials

Main Roads encourages participation, acknowledging that participation is voluntary and non-binding. Respondents may choose to answer all or some of the questions. Please note this process is independent from any subsequent procurement process and your participation or otherwise will have no bearing on any future procurement processes.
