Tender Description

Scope of work

The existing dining and kitchen area, as well as the female toilet facilities, do not currently meet the Rio Tinto Operations Centre standards for finishes, furnishings, presentation, and staff amenity. The finishes and furnishings are inconsistent with corporate branding and operational requirements, resulting in reduced functionality, durability, and staff satisfaction. Additionally, the current female toilet configuration does not optimise available space to exceed National Construction Code (NCC) requirements, potentially limiting future capacity and compliance.

There is a need to:

• Refurbish the dining and kitchen area to align with Rio Tinto Operations Centre standards for aesthetics, durability, and functionality.

• Ensure all selections (fabrics, colours, materials, booth options) are consistent with corporate guidelines.

• Upgrade the female toilets by adding an additional fixture, achieving compliance with and exceeding NCC requirements, without reducing the cleaners’ room space.

• Address these needs while minimising disruption, ensuring regulatory compliance, and avoiding the scope creep, rework, and compliance gaps identified in previous projects.

Intent

The intent of this project is to refurbish the existing dining and kitchen area, as well as upgrade the female toilet facilities, to achieve the following:

• Align all finishes, furnishings, and presentation with the Rio Tinto Operations Centre standard, ensuring consistency in fabric selection, booth styling, colour palette, and material quality.

• Enhance functionality, durability, and staff amenity by selecting materials and layouts that are robust, easy to maintain, and visually appealing.

• Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto branding, operational requirements, and relevant regulations (including the National Construction Code).

• Upgrade the female toilets by adding an additional fixture, exceeding NCC requirements, and optimising available space without impacting the cleaners’ room.

• Minimise disruption and avoid scope creep by clearly defining requirements, engaging stakeholders early, and managing changes formally.

• This project aims to deliver a modern, durable, and compliant facility that improves the working environment and staff satisfaction, while meeting all corporate and regulatory standards.
