The City of Burnside is home to Wheal Watkins Mine, a registered State Heritage Place (ID 11607). While general access inside the mine adits is not recommended due to safety conditions, Council aims to preserve the mine for historical prosperity. A safety condition assessment identified several remediation stages required at the 6‑fathom and 20‑fathom adits.
This Request for Tender now reflects Stage 1 priority works only, which address immediate safety risks and can be delivered within the current financial year.
