Tender Description

Re-construction of Gladfield Road chainage 11.2 – 13.0km as per plans 502709R01 – 502709R15.

Project Notes:

350mm Road Pavement design

a. Wearing Course – 2 coat 14/7mm aggregate and prime

b. Base Course – 150mm – 6.5m wide

c. Subbase Course – 200mm – 4.1m wide

d. Subgrade – Pass proof roll (option for stabilisation if required)

Note: Provisional items to be considered as a design alternative, please note any further alternative depths or quantities as part of your submission.

1. Works need to be completed by 1 May 2026

2. An onsite inspection needs to be carried out to fully understand the nature and extent of works in order to provide an accurate lump sum quotation.

3. Obtain Memorandum of Authorization (MoA) from relevant authorities (if required) and obtain Traffic Management plan approval from Council before commenting on site especially if utilising Detours. Signpost Road Closures / Speed Limit Changes.

4. Undertake Safe Work Method analysis prior to work taking place on site.

5. Contractor needs to provide before, during and after photos of the works to the Council.

6. The surface should be compacted to form a solid, even and uniform surface free of soft spots to prevent unravelling, rutting by traffic and excessive moisture penetration from the surface.

In order to achieve the desired compaction, Steel drum Roller, Pneumatic tyre roller need to be used, or any other method approved by contract Superintendent.

7. The final constructed surface should be free of any depression, soft spots, voids and irregularity and Superintendent may ask for Proof Roll Tests to be conducted by using one of the following methods:

  •  A 20 Tonne Multi tyred roller
  •  A Bogie drive Water Cart fully loaded weight of 22.5 tonne

Should the Proof Roll Test result in any deflection, it will need to be promptly rectified by the contractor to the satisfaction of Superintendent.

8. If any of the following defects occur, then it should be rectified within 14 days from the date of notification.

  •  Surface scours, potholes or rutting 100 mm depth 300 mm diameter.
  •  Loose material 50 mm in depth for 200 m
