Tender Description

The project aims to address the structural and operational challenges at the Lifeline Shed, located within the Broken Hill Waste Management Facility. The scope of work includes the following key components:

1. Electrical Infrastructure

  • Temporarily isolate and disconnect power to the shed as required.
  • Provide temporary power to maintain operations during the repairs, if needed.
  • Replace and test cables to mitigate potential strain or damage.

2. Temporary Structural Adjustments

  • Remove external and internal fixtures, including downpipes, floodlights, signage, roller doors, and personal access (PA) doors, to facilitate access for repairs.
  • Remove external cladding and associated fixing tracks in affected areas.

3. Concrete Floor Slab Repairs

  • Remove and replace concrete slab panels showing signs of subsidence.
  • Excavate and recompact the base layer beneath affected panels, applying new road base fill to level the surface.
  • Install new full-depth expansion joints and dowel connections to ensure structural stability.
  • Pour and finish new reinforced concrete slabs.

4. Frame Remediation

  • Assess the footings of the portal frame columns after slab removal.
  • Lift and stabilize the frame to address displacement.
  • Replace or reinforce footings as needed, and resecure horizontal members, cladding, roller doors, and PA doors.

5. Road Surface Restoration

  • Remove and replace sections of the road surface adjacent to the shed that show signs of subsidence.
  • Excavate, recompact, and rebuild the road base, followed by resurfacing with bitumen.

6. Optional Geotechnical Stabilization

  • Assess and stabilize surrounding areas using advanced geotechnical methods, such as slab lifting and ground stabilization, to prevent further subsidence.

Timeline: The project will be required to commence in March 2026 and be completed by May 2026.
