EOI - Large BESS equipment for Tranche II sites (Batteries, PCS units, PPC)
Tender ID: 605531
Tender Details
Tender Description
Ausgrid Group is seeking to identify suitable vendor(s), capable of providing BESS equipment (Batteries, PCS units, PPC) for its next tranche of large-scale BESS projects (Tranche 2). Our Tranche 1 projects are well progressed (200/400MWh), and construction has begun on our first project.
The ongoing grid-scale BESS program includes several future sites ranging from 100MW to 200MW / 200MWh to 400MWh, connected to the 132kV across NSW Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter regions within the Ausgrid network. All BESS are intended to be registered participants in the National Electricity Market (NEM), connected via a 132kV point of connection at an Ausgrid substation. Planning is well progressed for Tranche 2 and examples can be found on the NSW Planning Portal (e.g. Kamay BESS).
Ausgrid's previous market engagements are now out of date, and we now intend to gather information from the market to develop a shortlist of vendors based on criteria which will support Tranche 2. Ausgrid are also open to different delivery models (EPC Wrap, BoP+ BESS supply, BoP + PCS/PPC + Battery etc) pending our assessment of the level of risk, vendor capability and cost.
The shortlisted suppliers of the initial Expression of Interest (EOI) Phase will be invited directly to bid in the Request for Tender Stage, with the aim to enable early works in Q3 2026.
Key criteria for Ausgrid assets:
- Energy density due to limited site sizes
- Noise levels due to proximity to sensitive receivers
- Grid-forming PCS/PPC capability due to System Strength Impact
- Product design which minimises fire safety risk throughout planning approvals.
Ausgrid will be engaging 'integrators' and OEMs (PPC/PCS/battery systems) as part of this EOI, to inform delivery models.
Our timeframes dictate a response to our EOI should be completed within two weeks (firm) and in that time, Ausgrid is willing and eager to discuss our projects with vendors to ensure alignment.
