Toowoomba City Aerodrome Ground Leases

Toowoomba Regional Council owns and operates the Toowoomba City Aerodrome (Aerodrome). This is a certified Certified Aerodrome, (CASA.ADCERT.0137) with the capacity to cater for aircraft up to Dash 8-300. The aerodrome is most frequently used for RFDS/Careflight, military ops, private and charter, flight training, and QFES fire suppression operations.

The Aerodrome is an established general aviation facility supporting a range of aviation activities including aircraft maintenance, charter operations, flight training, hangarage and specialist aviation services. The Aerodrome plays an important role in supporting regional connectivity, emergency services, and aviation-based businesses within the Toowoomba Region.

There are a number of existing lease sites in favour of aviation operators mainly for aircraft hangarage and maintenance and the Council is seeking to build on this established base by facilitating additional aviation-related development that strengthens the long-term operational capability of the Aerodrome.

The purpose of this tender is to identify suitably qualified proponents seeking to establish or expand general aviation operations at the Toowoomba City Aerodrome.

The Aerodrome has specific access and security requirements. Site inspections will only be permitted with the prior approval of Council and must be conducted under the supervision of an authorised Council officer.

Offerors are required to attend a mandatory site inspection prior to submitting their tender. Mandatory site inspections will be held from 16th – 18th February 2026. To arrange a suitable date and time, please email financialservicescontracting@tr.qld.gov.au by Friday, 13th February 2026.
