Tender Description

The Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA) is advising of the forthcoming opportunity to purchase softwood (predominantly Pinus radiata) log parcels totalling approximately 205,000 green metric tonnes (gmt).

DEECA is seeking one or more buyers for Logs over a multi-year period from the Delatite Arm Reserve (DAR) plantation and four smaller plantations. DEECA proposes to commence Log harvesting in October 2026, with operations expected to be completed in 2029. Logs will be available each year from the start of October to the end of May.

The volume of Logs for sale is approximately 178,500 green metric tonnes (GMT) of mature Pinus radiata logs and about 26,500 gmt mixed softwood species (P. radiata, P. ponderosa and P. nigra) logs from DAR and four other plantation areas in Victoria’s northeast and the central highlands. Based on detailed inventory assessments, of the 205,000 gmt available, approximately 143,000 gmt meets sawlog quality across various diameter classes, and the remaining 62,000 gmt is pulp log specification, down to a small-end diameter under bark of 8cm. All available logs will be sold from the truck.

DEECA will oversee planning and management of the harvesting operations, log loading onto trucks, and subsequent revegetation efforts. DEECA is seeking buyers for the Logs. Once the Logs are loaded onto trucks, the buyer will be responsible for the log haulage.
