Overview
Cassowary Coast Regional Council invites tenders from suitably qualified tenderers to deliver a major amendment to the Cassowary Coast Planning Scheme.
Purpose
Cassowary Coast Regional Council has received funding under the Queensland Government's Scheme Supply Fund to deliver a major amendment to the Cassowary Coast Planning Scheme 2015 to address housing supply. The funding also presents an opportunity to review the planning scheme more broadly.
Objectives
- Review and set the strategic direction for the Cassowary Coast Region for the next 10 years
- Consider whether the current planning scheme is delivering development and infrastructure outcomes consistent with current community, industry and Council expectations
- Discuss and consider alternative approaches and outcomes to address areas that have not delivered
- Deliver a more proactive approach to plan making, providing greater specificity for preferred planning outcomes for key sectoral opportunities for additional housing, considered essential to attract realistic and sustainable investment opportunities and meet the region's growth needs
- Review planning scheme provisions in context of the region's location and emerging development trends being experienced across regional Australia
