40km/h School Precincts, Electronic Speed Limit Signages with Existing Road Safety Cameras Packages

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) invites companies to provide a response to the Request for Tender for the 40km/h School Precincts, Electronic Speed Limit Signages with Existing Road Safety Cameras Packages, Contract No. 25C054.

The Department is introducing a new safety measure across South Australian school precincts, by implementing a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h near schools at locations with high pedestrian activity during peak crossing times. 40km/h school precincts will be introduced at locations where the front of a school or its access point is situated on a state road with a speed limit of 50km/h or higher.

These school precincts will be fitted with both static and solar-powered electronic speed limit signs (ESLS) to alert motorists of the changed speed limit, along with the upgraded safety cameras.

These signs will be progressively rolled out during 2026, with full completion and commissioning of ITS equipment by the end of 2026.

The project will be delivered under two Packages being:

• 25C054 Package 1 – Northern Suburbs; and
• 26C002 Package 2 – Southern Suburbs

PREQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Where the Tenderer does not have the required prequalification, licence, or accreditation for any element of the work, that element must be subcontracted to a subcontractor who holds the appropriate prequalification, licence, or accreditation.
