Gunning Levee Detailed Design

Upper Lachlan Shire Council is seeking the services of a suitably qualified and experience engineering consultant to undertake the detailed design for a levee in Gunning, NSW.

In 2017 Upper Lachlan Shire Council engaged consultants to prepare a draft Floodplain Risk Management study for the various villages within the Shire including Gunning. The Floodplain Risk Management study identified that multiple private dwellings and businesses were at risk of flooding during various ARI events.

2022 flooding demonstrated the vulnerability of the community to flash flooding, with rainfall shutting down the Main Street for all traffic including emergency services and causing significant property damage. In 2024 Council carried out a feasibility study and preliminary drawings for a levee. Council now requires a suitably qualified and experienced engineering consultant to undertake the detailed design of the levee.
