239.819 Boosey Creek Deck Renewal, Benalla -Oakland, Tungamah

ABOUT THE RFQ:

Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is seeking quotes from competent contractors to provide materials and services to undertake 239.819km Boosey Creek Deck Renewal, Benalla -Oakland, Tungamah

SCOPE:

As part of the Annual Works Plan, ARTC intends to replace the existing life expired timber deck at Boosey Creek, 239.819km, Benalla - Oakland line, Tungamah with new timber decks.

The existing bridge has 14 spans, and each span is 9m long. Each span will have 8 new timber deck panels installed as per attachment 2: Deck General Arrangement

Contractor to undertake preparations works to minimise time of track. These works include but not limited to:

• Pre-drilling panels, SA47 rubber pads and packer plates. There will be requirement to drill approximately 2 no. bolt holes on both ends of the panels to suit the new top flange hold down locations.

• New top flange hold down bolt holes to be drilled out to accommodate 24mm bolts.

• Survey pick up organised by contractor for packer heights.

• Pick up the materials from Seymour and delivery to site. Main activities include but not limited to:

• Replace existing timber deck with new timber panels

• Removal and disposal of existing timbers and fixings.

• Clean top flange of existing girders, remove all corrosion, measure thickness of top flange and note areas of corrosion and treat with protective epoxy paint.

• Measure and mark out on the new timber panels the hold down bolt holes four holes per panel.

• Drill all hold down bolt holes in timber panels.

• Measure and mark out on the top flange the hold down bolt holes.

• Drill all hold down bolt holes in top flange and treat with protective epoxy paint.

• Install SA47 rubber pads between panels and top flange of girders. SA47 rubber pads to be glued to the underside of panels and use timber panel hold down bolts as well.

• Install four hold down bolts per panel and install lock nut.

• Install handrails at both side of bridge and refuges

• Install rail plates and packers, packers’ heights to be determined by survey which will be provided by Contractor.

• Top surfaces and expose edges of new timber deck panels to be treated and protected from UV and environmental damage.

• Install rail and weld/ joints, no welding to be undertaken above new timber deck

• Tamp the track as determined from the track survey.

• Record track superelevation and gauge before and after renewal works.

• Site survey support required during works to utilise survey data to achieve correct track geometry.

• Using the construction tolerances, track geometry as per ARTC, ETS-05-00, Track Geometry

• Installation of appropriate erosion & sediment controls on site prior to works and includes site laydown area.
