Tender Description
The aim of the DFSV Primary Prevention Grants is to increase and strengthen the evidence base for primary prevention of DFSV in the Northern Territory (NT), aligning with Domain 1 of the Safe, Respected and Free from Violence Reduction Framework 2018-2028.
Initiatives that aim to prevent DFSV before it starts are usually referred to as primary prevention initiatives. Primary prevention aims to address the underlying drivers or causes of violence that operate across society and communities, to prevent violence from ever occurring.Primary prevention initiatives tend to focus on the whole of the population. For example, a primary prevention program in schools with school students would engage all students, staff and families, as opposed to focusing only on groups of students who may be at particular risk.
Primary prevention can be distinguished from early intervention or secondary prevention, in which services and programs target those individuals or groups who are at higher risk of experiencing or using violence.
Who can apply
Funding is available to organisations only.
To be eligible for funding an organisation must
- be physically located and actively operating in the NT. If your organisation is physically located and actively operating outside of the NT you must partner with an NT organisation
Types of organisations that are eligible for funding include
- A universal service based in the NT which includes a specialist DFSV program within the service, or who is applying in partnership with a DFSV specialist service.
- A specialist service based in the NT.
- A resident of the NT auspiced by an organisation that is a DFSV specialist service based in the NT.
How to apply
Applications for grants must be completed online via GrantsNT. Applicants are required to register their profile details in GrantsNT and if successful, will be required to apply to NTG Accounts Payable for a vendor ID to enable receiving payments.
The application form within GrantsNT provides information to allow detailed consideration and comparison of applications. Before an application can be considered, all relevant areas of the application must be completed and requested documents attached.
It is suggested that letters of support are sought from relevant stakeholders, including demonstrating community consultation, place-based focus and community readiness.
Once an application is submitted, the applicant can follow the status of their application via GrantsNT by logging into their GrantsNT profile, either individual or organisation.
