Oamaru Rural Water Main Renewals

The Waitaki District Council (WDC) is initiating a watermain renewal and upgrade project in the Rural Oamaru area, aimed at replacing the aging and undersized AC watermains. The project involves the renewal of approximately 6 km of existing pipe, divided into three sections.

This work is essential to address the poor and deteriorating condition of the current AC watermains and to ensure that the new pipes provide adequate capacity to support future growth and improve reliability. At present, these pipes frequently suffer damage and failures, resulting in reduced service levels and increased maintenance costs.
