Berrigan Shire Council (BSC) is the supplier of water and wastewater services for the Finley region. BSC owns and operates the Finley Water Treatment Plant (WTP), which provides potable water to the township of Finley.
BSC is committed to the construction of a new water treatment plant (WTP) that shall replace the existing WTP. The new Finley WTP shall be constructed on the site of the existing Finley WTP located on 13 Tuppal Street, Finley NSW 2713 which is located on land owned by BSC.
The scope of the project involves the construction of a new WTP plant with a hydraulic capacity of 1.25 ML/d and a treated water production design capacity of 1.0 ML/day. The treatment process must include the following process unit operations and associated chemicals:
(1) Raw water inlet works
(2) PAC dosing;
(3) 1 x 100% PAC contact tank;
(4) Coagulation;
(5) Coagulant Aid Polymer;
(6) Flocculation process;
(7) Clarification/flotation using dissolved air flotation, in-filter dissolved air flotation or lagoon sedimentation;
(8) Filtration using gravity granular media filtration or membrane filtration;
(9) Filter backwashing including air scour and water wash;
(10) Filtered water balance tank and filtered water pumps (duty/standby);
(11) UV disinfection;
(12) Chlorine contact tank;
(13) Treated water pump station;
(14) Treated water chemical dosing including pH correction, disinfection and fluoridation;
(15) Wastewater handling process consisting of sludge lagoons and supernatant return pump station;
(16) Chemical mixing;
(17) Chemical dosing systems including:
a) PAC for organics removal;
b) Aluminium chlorohydrate (ACH) for coagulation;
c) Polyacrylamide for coagulant aid, settling and dewatering aid polymer dosing.
(18) Retain upgrade and integrate the following chemical dosing systems: a) Soda ash;
b) Sodium fluoride for fluoridation;
c) Chlorine gas for disinfection.
