Construction of seismic strengthening for the existing Linden Reservoir, Tawa.
The existing reservoir was designed in 1968 and has a capacity of 4,500m3. The concrete precast walls are 7.3 m high and are post tensioned horizontally and vertically. The reservoir has a diameter of 28 m and is divided evenly into quarters by four pilasters. The roof is a reinforced concrete dome shape that is supported on the perimeter wall and by seven internal columns.
The reservoir is to be strengthened with the following:
- Several, external, horizontal steel plates around the perimeter to increase the hoop capacity
- A new internal concrete ring beam at the base of the wall to increase the capacity of the connection
- Fibre reinforced polymer wrapping on the exterior of the wall to increase the vertical bending capacity
