Specialist Skin Cancer Support for Primary Care

⁠⁠⁠Healthy North Coast is seeking providers support primary care to strengthen early detection and management of skin cancer across the North Coast of NSW, a region with one of the highest melanoma rates in Australia. The program will focus on building the capability of general practitioners and primary care teams through targeted training, mentoring, specialist support, and the use of diagnostic tools such as dermatoscopy and digital imaging.

By supporting practices to embed opportunistic and planned skin checks, the program seeks to improve diagnostic accuracy, increase screening among high-risk populations, and enhance patient education on prevention and early detection. The intended outcomes include earlier identification and treatment of skin cancer, more appropriate use of specialist services, reduced unnecessary procedures, and a more efficient, equitable, and sustainable primary care response to skin cancer across the region.
