Tender Description
The Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) delivers contemporary regulatory and other government services to ensure Queensland workers, industry and communities are healthy, safe, fair and productive.
OIR is made up of:
• Workplace Health and Safety Queensland
• Electrical Safety Office
• Workers’ Compensation Regulatory Services
• Industrial Relations Policy and Regulation
• Public Sector Industrial Relations.
In partnership with our stakeholders, the OIR strives to achieve the lowest rate of work-related and electrical fatality, injury and disease in the nation, a fair, balanced and sustainable workers’ compensation scheme, and a fair industrial relations framework in Queensland.
The OIR has more than 800 staff Queensland, offering a range of policy, advisory, compliance and specialist technical services and initiatives, including but not limited to, ensuring compliance with work health and safety, electrical safety, industrial relations and workers’ compensation regulatory frameworks and taking any necessary enforcement action.
Section 327(1)(m) of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 prescribes the functions of the Workers’ Compensation Regulator, including grant administration functions. This function is delegated to Workers’ Compensation Regulatory Services (WCRS).
The Workers’ Compensation Information and Advisory Service for Workers (WCIAS for Workers) provides a free, confidential, independent and expert information and advisory service to all Queensland workers and people making a claim for compensation, to support their understanding of, and ability to navigate, the workers' compensation scheme.
Acting on behalf of the Queensland Government, the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) has committed through a grant process to deliver the service over a period of up to three (3) years, with one extension option for a further two (2) years subject to performance.
